When leaving your computer, you would normally lock it down, to prevent others from looking over your files or making changes without your knowledge. However, locking the screen will decelerate the CPU, which adds a slight delay when you unlock it and resume your work. If you wish to solve this particular issue, you can turn to Fastlock. It offers a faster and more convenient solution for locking the screen. It prevents all normal interactions with a computer, while keeping your applications running and ready to be used when you unlock the screen.

The application doesn't need to be installed, but you need to run a separate executable first, to set up a password. It is compatible with all modern Windows platforms and it doesn't require any special tools or services. Also, it doesn't use a significant amount of resources, so you can use it even on older machines.

Using Fastlock is quite easy. If your password is set up, you only need to run the application's main executable. This will immediately lock down your screen. It will go completely dark and you will only see an input box for your password. It should be fairly obvious that you will need to insert your password to unlock the screen.

Passwords are case sensitive, which is why the application lets you know if Caps Lock is on, while the screen is locked, so if a red message shows up, telling you the password is incorrect, you will know why. Once you unlock the screen, you will be able to resume your normal routine right away, without experiencing any kind of delays. Your applications will work as if nothing ever happened.

When it comes to locking and unlocking the screen, Fastlock makes everything much smoother and more convenient.

Pros

You an lock the screen at a moment's notice, by simply running an executable. The application does not decelerate the CPU while the screen is locked. It gives you the possibility of resuming your work without any kind of delays.

Cons

The system sound will be muted when you lock the screen and it will remain muted after you unlock it. Fortunately, you can unmute it by simply increasing or decreasing the volume.
